Institution Notes:
This Academy of Music was founded in 1911 as a music conservatoire and gained its current name and status in 1973. It is the only music university-level institution in Schleswig-Holstein. The University houses the Brahms Institute with original manuscripts, letters, photographs and other memorabilia of Brahms and his circle. It co-operates with the Brahms Institute at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Facilities include well-equipped electronic music studios and laboratories.
There is a preparatory program for young people wishing to prepare for possible entry to the professional program.
