Institution Notes:
A private Jesuit university that can trace its history back to 1623. The music department was established in 1991. Facilities include a well-equipped electronic music and recording studio. An extension division caters for those interested in taking single subjects.
There is a junior department providing initial music training to young people and which also prepares students to enter the professional stream of music study.
The Faculty of Arts publishes a journal twice annually, and includes articles on music as well as student compositions. Several research projects are involved with traditional music of Colombia, with one concentrating on the adaptation of the Kodály method to the music of Colombia.
