Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1949 and is named after the Byzantine Christian theologians and missionaries Cyril and Methodius. The Faculty of Music was established in 1966. There are departments of performance, theory, composition, conducting, musicology, ethnomusicology, music education and dance. The library holds an archive of folk music with audio recordings. The Faculty of Music has organised an Initiative of Research in Archiving Music.
