Institution Notes:

A private university founded in 1873. The School of Music is housed in the Ed Landreth Hall and the Mary D and F Howard Walsh Center for Performing Arts, with a number of fine performance spaces. Facilities include four pipe organs, two harpsichords, a clavichord and a collection of baroque and renaissance instruments. This is an All-Steinway School.

A music preparatory program offers music tuition to the very young and school-aged children. The School of Music organises several summer programs, including Piano Texas, an international program for students, teachers and amateurs, a Summer Music Institute for middle and high school students, an international five-/six-week chamber music festival and a jazz festival.
